Southern Sheepshead Fish are named for their teeth which are square and resemble sheep teeth. They use those strong teeth to crush oyster shells. The spiny top fin is very sharp and their scales are tough and hard to clean but once you get past all that it's a very tasty fish to eat. Other names for this fish are Sheepshead Porgy, Southern Sheepshead and Florida Sheepshead.

Thanks Frank, It's named for it's teeth which are square like sheep teeth. They're strong enough to break oyster shells.
