Description
Today I saw a butterfly type I've never seen in my yard before. This is a Long Tailed Skipper and he is aptly named because he did not stay still but skipped from flower to flower so quickly, it was dizzying. With some fliers you can see a pattern to their movements, predict where they will go next and focus on that spot. This one was so erratic that I could not guess what he would do next. I was determined to capture him since he looked quite lovely and I'm quite stubborn. I immediately saw the manual focus macro I was using had to go and switched for an auto-focus lens. I had another go at him for a few minutes then he took off. When he came back I tried again. When I came inside for the third time my hubby who had been watching my dance with this creature said: You'll never get a shot of that one because he doesn't stay still for a moment.
Well, he managed to stay still for at least 1/400 of a second and I did get him!
